An orchestra of Cicadas call to me
Bringing back memories of Kujuukuri Beach
Where I left my Grandma's wrinkled hands
and ventured out alone into the depths of this RedLight District
And in this Kingdom my mother reigns as Queen
I, the spitting image of her majesty
Charmed and hypnotized, still a child yet,
as arms extended out from everywhere welcoming me.
At age 15, the Queen disappeared,
and I was left to fend for myself
That man that frequented Friday nights,
is who she's with as far as I can tell
“Everything prospering surely must decline”
still can't remember just where I heard those lines…
But as I understood, setting foot, in this district
I felt it overtake me and never looked back
For leaving me, I'll never forgive,
but the summer's come and shifted the tides
The old Queen left to never return
So now this new title, I'll wear with pride
I've blossomed quickly to womanhood
For now I'm only selling myself
But if some day I need sympathy,
I'll be at risk of losing everything
Shinjuku Station off JR line,
and exit East you'll find me at home
My Backyard lit by bright neon signs,
Nocturnal playground of Kabukichou
And from tonight while the city lies asleep
I, her daughter, will take my post as Queen…
